SciFi and Fantasy Art: Listening Lady

This is almost a revised version of sneak. I liked the idea of a lady or someone listening around a corner or to a door... and thought I could do a character sketch for my novel that way. Soo.. here she is. Her hand looks odd... but I've been studying my hands and now all I need to do is find my Magic Rub eraser and fix it up. All in all I like it. Especially considering that I did it at about 2 in the morning on the last weeknight of winter vacation (I always seem to be working at 2 in the morning...). Done on white printer paper with a regular old #2 pencil.
Update! Jan. 2001 by some act of god, this one super special so good and detailed drawing that i treasure more than most, got lost. We moved and now i dunno where it is. stupid moving! i had even fixed the hand and everything... :(

The detail on her gown is quite interesting-cool. and her hair is quite real looking. nice job. (hands are very hard to do.)

:-) Meghan Anne Merritt replies: "Thanks! Hands are one of the hardest things to do i think. Eyes, noses, ears, those things arent that hard for me, but hands.... *rolls eyes* those are nearly impossible. However, i'm taking a life drawing class, so i hope to imporve soon and revisit this piece to improve her overall. Thanks so much for the comment! "

her dress is AMAZING!!! i wish *i* had the patience for such detail (: i really like her hair, too. it is so hard to do hair so it looks real, and you've obviously mastered that talent (:

wonderful! but her body looks a bit too skinny for her shoulders and neck. Hands ARE hard to do, but keep practicing.

This drawing is gorgeous, from the dress to the hair and face. She doesn't really look like she's "listening around a corner," though. If you really want to get across that image, try putting more emotion into the face or more action in the limbs. (Of course, I couldn't draw like you in a million years, so who am I to give advice?)

:-) Meghan Anne Merritt replies: "thanks anyways! sometimes those who arent artists give the best advice! Yes, she does look a bit... off. In most respects. Part of the reason for that is that I drew her too small to begin with. But also because I drew her over 3 years ago, a lot of work needs to go into her to make her look good again, but I'm willing to do it. Thanks very much for your comment! "

this is so beautiful, all of the best work is done at two in the morning no? Mine happens to be done at two in the morning, on a school night, when I have to work the rest of the day and then I want to write about it... not fair heh. Ther dress is very beautiful and the detail is wonderful.I love her hair and the pose is great! I am working on one like this, I use Bridal magazines, they have great poses and some of the dresses look medieval 2 happy happy! Keep drawing, you are going on my fav artist/author list!

If youve lost it, why don't you print it out and draw it again? Just a suggestion, great pic though! I think you should be able to see some of the arm as well, but what the hell do I know?...:7

It´s quite nice actually, but i think the hands can be drawed better!!! A little bit boring. I can do it better.
But don´t worry.
